the raiders need to get vince young
now that vince young is definately at the low point of his career the raiders need to trade their overpriced jamarcus russel and make salary cap room in exchange for the troubled vince young. true, young is probably overrated right now, but the way things are going in oakland, their coach lane kiffin is about to be kicked out and the offense will be again in turmoil. If they were to get rid of the quarterback who can throw 100yrds but not have nearly as much overall potential as young they would be taking a step in the right direction IF they were to play in the shotgun run and shoot formation young played in at texas university. if kiffin stays, there is no way they will change to that type of offense but if he's gone a new system will also be under philosophy there in oakland. Under center, young is horrible, even if he had the best qb coach there is in norm chow. but let him play in a wide open system where he can spread the field and run just as often as pass and the offense he is on will flourish.

Forget about it. True, bringing in a QB like Young would be best if going to a shotgun or at least something that will take full advantage of his mobility, but that's the problem. The Raiders won't do that, at least for long, if Al is still around. He wants the old school Mad Bomber-type of offense and that is totally obsolete. They did quite well with Gruden's version of the West coast offense with Gannon, but it wasn't to Al's liking and you see what has happened since that time.
Great idea, but the Raiders..........Al Davis that is.....wants to run an offense like we did in the 70's and prior and that just doesn't get it in today's athletic and speedy NFL. That's why we have big Russell for, to sling it downfield. But our best shot right now is the old school "three yards and a cloud of dust".........run, run, and run some more. It's all we can do to win six to eight games at this point.
