Coming off a super bowl victory last season, hopes couldn't be higher for the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers, as they should be.  While the team is returning 20 out of 22 starters from that super bowl run (only losing Larry Foote and Bryant Mcfadden), things begin to look bleak as we look at the possible roster a year from now.  In 2010, the Steelers will have an alarming number of key players that will be free agents if these players do not re-sign.

In all, twelve Steelers will become free agents, seven of them being unrestricted.  If unsigned, the Steelers would lose players like Willie Parker, Casey Hampton, Deshea Townsend, Heath Miller, William Gay, Ryan Clark, Brett Keisel, and everybody's favorite kicker, Jeff Reid.  With the signing of James Harrison, who will be 32 by the start of the 2010 season, the Steelers may have put themselves in a hole salary cap wise (assuming a new CBA is put into effect and 2010 is not an uncapped year).  With the Steelers right up against the cap, and rookie signings not taken care of, little wiggle room will be available to give these potential free agents a new contract.

I think I may have figured out why the New York Yankee$ do not put numbers on their uniforms.

It probably began a long time ago when the Yankee$ management didn't want the press or the public to know who was who...in other words, so no one could tell which over-paid moron to blame for any and all losses that the Yankee$ experience.

Then, in Sir George's twisted genius, he continued this practice of no names on the backs of the uniforms so unless patrons to Yankee Stadium I...and now, Yankee Stadium II buy an overpriced program for the game...they, too, could not tell which over-paid moron to blame for any and all Yankee losses.

It makes perfect sense.

It's still has to make you wonder why the Yankee$ haven't won a World Series since "George Costanza" left???

Well, it’s a little over one month into the 09 baseball season, and I figured it’s about time I write something about the my observations of the Baltimore Orioles. Of course, it’s all opinion and we all know what opinions are like.

I look at the standings and the Orioles are perched in last place…and, according to the Orioles’ management, we’ve got everyone else in our sights. Unfortunately, that sight is far, far above us.

Can’t blame to top 3 batters…Roberts, Jones and Markakis are doing what they’re supposed to be doing…getting on base and “setting the table” for the power portion of the lineup. But, that’s not happening…is it the usual early season slump for some of the batters relied upon for the power in 2009?  Maybe…but it’s is something, I think, inherent with the Orioles for the last couple of years…there’s no one in this lineup that other teams are “afraid” of…or leery of facing.

It is April 3rd 2009 and I have officially kicked off my NFL blog.  I can finally rant and rave to the best (and worst) of my abilities to whoever wants to listen.  Nothing profound will appear in today's post, but as soon as I have something brilliant to say, you will be the first to know.  PEACE!!!

Today started off as a normal day.  I went to school, worked out after school, and had a great dinner with my family.  Then, my whole world started to spin.  I accidentally mistaken my cat for a pillow.  RIP cat.  Then I had to go bury my cat in the backyard.  It was still meowing as I placed dirt on top of my cat.  What a day.

Moving

I just wanted to post a little note saying that I will no longer be blogging on this site in the future.  I want to thank the host of this blogosphere for letting me postulate about the Vikings during the 2008 season, and I'm definitely not leaving this blogosphere because I feel uncomfortable posting or anything like that.  Basically, I just want my blog to get a little more exposure in the NFL community.

I also want to say thanks to Mr. Coleman Dieger for taking an active interest in my posts (especially about Tarvaris Jackson and Brad Childress!).  It was fun chatting with you.

For anyone who may have an interest, my new Vikings blog will now be located at: http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/zkonedog

According to ESPN the Dallas Cowboys have released Terrell Owens. Thank God!!!

There are a few things to look at over the next few weeks. One, where will Owens end up? Two, how will this affect the draft and Roy Williams? Three, who will become the replacement in the Cowboy's receiving courps?

In my estimation, the keys to this story will be:

The Cowboys will be in the Anquan Boulden sweepstakes.  The cowboys will have a chance to get younger and tougher while improving their chemistry if they can land the Arizona Cardinals' talent.

Patrick Creyton may step up, but that isn't Jerry Jones' style. So, look at Boulden or a splash in the draft like Jeremy Macklin or even trading up for Michael Crabtree. My money is on Anquan Boulden.
