Oakland Raiders are electing to kick away from Saints punt returner Reggie Bush this Sunday. Bush, having a monster game last Monday, ran back two punt returns at home against the Vikings. The debate is whether the Raiders are being smart or just plain chicken? I believe it's smart, the Raiders can't afford a game ending run back.
The important thing right now for the Raiders is to finish the game and get a win, so if that requires kicking away from Bush then so be it. And who could forget teams kicking away from Chicago Bears kick off and punt returner Devin Hester? It's the same thing, smart game play. These type of players can kill a teams motivation. However, I would prefer they do kick to Bush, and shut him down as well as shut down Drew Brees who has been consistently accurate in his passing game. He lit up the 49ers in week 4 and despite all the turnovers against the Vikings, had a decent game in week 5. He is far too accurate to mess with and it is necessary for the Raiders D to put pressure on him if they want to win this game.
Another focus will be set on the Raiders running game who is ranked 3rd in the league. RB Justin Fargas will be returning, after his groin injury against the Bills in week 3 so expect him to get back into the groove of this offense. With Darren McFadden and Michael Bush as backups, the Raiders are fierce in the back field so I expect them to have a big game this Sunday.
